How to Use DTF Sheets on T-Shirts: A Simple Guide
DTF printing is really popular now because it makes prints on all kinds of fabric. If you want to put DTF sheets on t-shirts and do it right we will show you how it is done.
Things You Need
– DTF printer
– DTF sheets
– Heat press machine
– Transfer powder
– T-shirt (it is best to use one made of 100% cotton)
– Clamshell or swing-away heat press
– Scissors
– Protective paper or Teflon sheet
Step 1: Make Your Design
First create the picture you want to print on your t-shirt. Make sure it is very clear and in the format for DTF printing. Save it as a PNG or TIFF file before you print it.
Step 2: Print Your Picture
Put the DTF sheet in your printer. Use the settings for your DTF film. If your picture has words choose the “mirror” option. Print your picture. Let it dry completely before you do the next step.
Step 3: Add Transfer Adhesive
When your print is dry sprinkle some DTF transfer powder on the picture. Make sure to cover it so it sticks well to the t-shirt. Use a heat gun to melt the powder a bit this will make it stick better.
Step 4: Use the Heat Press
Heat up your heat press to the temperature the manufacturer says, around 320°F. Put the DTF sheet on the t-shirt make sure it is straight. Cover it with paper or a Teflon sheet so nothing gets damaged.
Apply heat and pressure for 10-15 seconds.
Step 5: Remove the Backing
Let the design cool down for a bit before you peel off the DTF film. It is best to peel it when it’s still warm, but not too hot to touch. This helps the design stick to the fabric.
Step 6: Make the Design Longer (Optional)
If you want your print to last a time you can use the heat press again for a few more seconds.
Step 7: Final Check
Look, at the design to make sure everything is okay. If it looks good your t-shirt is ready to wear or sell. Remember to wash it out in cold water so the picture does not fade.
